An Interview With Creative Awards

July 7, 2020

At The Luxury Marketing Agency we have built long established relationships with our clients over the course of our partnerships. In our new mini-blog series, we speak with our clients to gain insights into their works, inspiration and lives.

Founded over 40 years ago, Creative Awards are the UK’s leading bespoke award makers. Working with the biggest events and brands on the planet the family owned business is renowned for their exceptional craftsmanship, designs and innovative practices. In today’s interview, we speak with Jack Carr about the company and what inspires creativity in their works.

Jack, thank you for taking the time to speak to ourselves. Creative Awards have been at the forefront of the events industry for over four decades, what do you attribute your longevity to?

Within business, especially given the current circumstances, the importance of both service and product are paramount. For companies to be successful, both at a service and quality level, it is vital to have the structures in place that meet the supply and demand and having resources available to meet them. Constantly investing in our teams and equipment, offering real value and creating exceptional work have been fundamental to our growth and longevity. Given our standing in the events industry, I believe we have been successful primarily because we have always been able to support our clients and understand their requirements.

You’ve touched on creativity, what inspires your designs and creativity behind the works?

Within all aspects of the custom awards we produce we start by understanding the brief, brand and budget of the client. Communication is key as we liaise with the client and delve into their brand and messaging to provide design mock-ups based on our conversations. By understanding the brands we work with we are able to draw from their logos, insignia and elements within their event to create a spectacular award. Inspiration and creativity for me come from many sources be they film, art and, of course, design. We try not to be too caught up in design trends, after all a trend itself is ethereal, and ultimately I think it comes down to having the experience to create and the eye to know what works intrinsically.

You’ve been based in Hatton Garden for over 30 years, what is it about the area that you like?

Hatton Garden has been like a second home to ourselves. I remember as a young boy visiting our workshop from a young age and watching my father and his teams crafting awards. Hatton Garden is one of those areas where tradition is stepped into the pavements. Being the centre of the diamond and jewellery industry, Hatton Garden is a treasure trove of jewellery shops, workshops and bullion dealers. What I find remarkable is that for centuries, the street has been dedicated to jewellery and, especially nowadays,  it is unusual to find an area that caters to a specific industry, for example.

What other areas of London do you enjoy?

I don’t actually have a favourite area in London per se. I enjoy that each area, borough even, has such a unique and interesting feel. From the glass skyscrapers of Canary Wharf, to the rough and ready pubs of Camden, London, for me, has everything within it and it is up to you to decide what you are in the mood for.

The team at The Luxury Marketing Agency would like to thank Jack for taking the time to speak with ourselves. For more information on their bespoke awards, contact Creative Awards via 020 7242 4020 or sales@creativeawards.co.uk
